No matter what you are going through in your life — tummy ache, anxiety, insomnia, exhaustion, bloating — there’s probably a tea for that.

When you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or insomnia, herbal teas are such a lifesaver. Sipping on hot, delicious tea before bed or in the middle of a stressful day can make a world of a difference.

In my search for the perfect calming tea, I came across one that honestly changed my life.

Have you heard of Kava?

Kava, also called Kava Kava, is a plant native to the South Pacific islands. Promoting a state of relaxation similar to the effects of alcohol, Pacific Islanders have been ceremonially consuming this plant for hundreds of years.

Its active ingredients are called kavalactones, which have the following effects on the body, according to Healthline:

☕️ Reduce anxiety

☕️ Protect neurons from damage

☕️ Reduce pain sensations

☕️ Reduce the risk of cancer (though the evidence is limited to mice)

Most of the research to date has focused mainly on Kava’s stress-relieving properties.

Yogi’s Kava Stress- Relief tea has only 78mg of kava root extract— not just the kavalactones— so it’s not overly potent or debilitating. The maximum daily recommended dose of kava is 250mg per day, according to the Kava Society, although Pacific Islanders consume up to ten times that much per day. Nevertheless, 78mg is a perfect starting point for anybody who may struggle with stress and anxiety.

I like to drink this tea in the middle of the day when I’m feeling stressed (or when I’ve had one too many cups of coffee), and especially at night before bed. Not only does it provide a comfy, calm feeling, but the flavor is sooo good.

If you are in the market for a calming tea, I 100% recommend this one. I am always giving packets of this stuff to family and friends, and I’m glad I get to share it with you too!
