It all started with blue mascara in the early 2000s.

I was eight years old, sitting cross-cross in front of my mom’s full-length mirror. She was getting ready for a night out, with her makeup products sprinkled all around her. I grabbed a pretty marker-looking tube and opened it up. To my little heart’s excitement, there in my hand was a blue mascara-covered spoolie. Naturally, I did what any eight-year-old diva would do — I coated every lash (and maybe other parts of my face) with the beautiful blue pigment. I thought I was the most gorgeous thing in the city that evening while prancing around the living room.

Ever since that moment, I’ve been hooked.

Fast forward to middle school, where I got my hands on bronzer, blush, and foundation (yikes). With the endless support from my parents, who allowed me to play in as much makeup as I wanted, I felt comfortable and confident whenever I sat down to doll myself up.

It’s been over 20 years since I first came face-to-face with that blue mascara *insert “Am I really that old?” comment here.* And although I have finally perfected my makeup routine, my fascination with the beauty world has remained the same.

Additionally, there was another passion inside me that I always knew I wanted to pursue: writing. This led me to obtain two degrees in the writing industry — a bachelor’s in Professional and Creative Writing from Central Washington University and a master’s in Journalism from New York University.

Keeping up to date on all the latest beauty trends, I’ve built quite an impressive vanity collection of cosmetics and skincare products (to say the least), which has only helped me with my beauty writing. Within the last six years, my work has appeared in Glam, The List, Thought Catalog, LifeSavvy, House Digest, Drink Me Magazine, Litro Magazine UK, and more.
